Department site platform for 40+ academic units
Consolidated dozens of independently-maintained department sites onto one governed CMS platform.
The problem
Every department ran its own site on its own stack. Branding drifted, security patches were inconsistent, and staff with no web background were editing raw HTML. Nobody could answer basic questions like which sites were still on supported software.
What I did
Built a shared template system on a Cascade CMS multisite with locked-down component-level editing, migrated content unit by unit with a scripted importer, and wrote short role-based documentation plus training sessions for each department's content owners. PHP drove the importer's database connections and content mapping; JavaScript powered the interactive components editors drop into pages.
Outcome
One platform, one patch cycle, and content owners who can publish without filing a ticket. Onboarding a new department went from a multi-week custom build to a configuration task.
